잘못을 지적하는 것은
우정을 가늠하는
가장 어려운 시험이다.
사랑하는 친구가 가진
문제점을 외면하지 않고,
고통스럽지만 정직하게,
사랑 어린 말로
그 잘못을 지적해 주는 것,
그것이 바로 우정이다.

to tell your friend his faults.
So to love a man that
you cannot bear to
see a stain upon him,
and to speak painful truth
through loving words,
that is friendship.

거룩한 삶을
요구하시는 것은
우리를 사랑하기 때문입니다.
그와 같이, 때로는
따끔한 훈계를 통해서라도,
우리들은 지체들을
바로 세워 주어야 합니다.

훈계해야 할 지
